Statistics don’t look good for under-fire Liverpool ace after costly error against Bournemouth

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has placed his faith in Loris Karius this season in making him his first choice between the posts, but the numbers don’t look good.

As per Squawka in the tweet below, the German shot-stopper has now conceded four goals from his last seven shots on target in the Premier League.

For a club like Liverpool, who will need a goalkeeper who maintains his concentration throughout and produces key saves to help win matches, that is simply not good enough.

What makes the situation worse is that Karius was at fault for the winning goal in the defeat to Bournemouth, as he spilled an effort back into the danger zone with Nathan Ake on hand to bundle home and seal all three points for the Cherries.

Simon Mignolet has been relegated to a back up option this season, but the Belgian will be looking on wondering whether or not he deserves another run of games from Klopp to re-establish himself as the top man for the job.

Karius has failed to convince many so far, and the 23-year-old needs to start making a more decisive impact in the weeks and months ahead to build trust and a reputation for being a game-changing goalkeeper.
