Nobody likes to see a player booed by his own supporters, except maybe the fans of a club trying to sign him.
Even then it’s not that promising to think that a player you’re going to have to spend tens of millions of pounds on is being abused by his fans. But when it comes to a player of proven quality like Julian Draxler, Arsenal fans will be content that the quality he has shown in the past can return if they do indeed open their checkbook.
The Sun today reports that the German midfielder was given the rough treatment by his fans when coming on a substitute at the weekend against Hertha Berlin.
Part of their anger will be related to the fact that Draxler openly confessed to wanting to leave in the summer when Arsenal were linked with him before. Arsene Wenger may well be happy to see that relations between the player and the fans has deteriorated as it makes a sale more palatable for his current club Wolfsburg, and drives his considerable potential transfer fee down.
