Arsenal open contract talks for diligent duo amid concerns that they could lose star players to their direct rivals

Arsenal have opened talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla over extending their current deals, according to the Telegraph.

The pair’s contracts both expire in the next 18 months time, and the Telegraph report that Arsenal are keen on ensuring that they stay beyond that. Arsene Wenger is believed to be confident that he can tie the both of them down to new deals.

However, it is also reported by the Telegraph that there are growing concerns about the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. They report that Sanchez, who is also entering the final 18 months of his contract, is attracting interest from Chelsea and has an offer from a Chinese Super League side worth up to £400k-a-week.

While the Gunners faithful bite their fingernails over the prospect of either of their talismans moving to a direct rival, they may take comfort in knowing that both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Cazorla are expected to pledge their loyalty to the club.
