Brendan Rodgers accidentally admits Liverpool target Moussa Dembele will leave Celtic

Brendan Rodgers has done exceptionally well at Celtic so far, but he is starting to learn one of the brutal truths about being a manager at Celtic Park: the better you do, the more your players will attract interest from the rich clubs to the south.

Rodgers great coup this summer was persuading Moussa Dembele to join from Fulham, and it’s paid huge dividends, with the youngster scoring an astonishing 17 goals in 29 games since arriving in Glasgow. Predictably this is turning heads across Europe, and particularly in the Premier League.
The Mirror claim that Liverpool and Arsenal are now joining Tottenham in pursuit of the hitman, and in denying that the Frenchman will be on his way in January, Rodgers has all but confessed that it will probably be the summer window which sees his star move on.

“No, I don’t think it will be January,” Rodgers said, not even able to deny outright that Dembele could go in the winter window.

It’s a painful reality for Rodgers, but perhaps it’s best that he gets used to it early on. As long as he reinvests the transfer fee wisely, the Bhoys should still walk the SPL this season, and could potentially seal a treble.
