Leicester City 4-2 Manchester City player ratings: three-goal Vardy gets a perfect 10 as the Foxes run riot

Leicester City beat Manchester City 4-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Jamie Vardy and some dreadful goalkeeping from Claudio Bravo.

Vardy fired Leicester into the lead early in the second half. He scored with his first shot on target in 700 minutes of Premier League action, slotting the ball into Claudio Bravo’s left-hand bottom corner.

Merely a few minutes later, the Foxes had another. The ball rolled out to Andy King on the edge of the penalty area and he produced a wonderful finish into the top corner.

Leicester were not finished there, though, and went searching for more. Riyad Mahrez released Vardy with a classy touch, and the England international made no mistake. Vardy rounded Bravo this time before tapping the ball into the empty net. Vardy then completed his hat-trick, capitalising on an error from John Stones, rounding Bravo once more and finding the back of the net for the third time.

Man City hit back with late goals from Aleksandar Kolarov and Nolito, but is proved too little, too late. It was an embarrassing defeat for Pep Guardiola’s side, who could fall seven points behind Chelsea if the Blues are able to beat West Brom tomorrow afternoon.

Leicester player ratings: Zieler 6, Simpson 7, Morgan 7, Huth 8, Fuchs 7, Mahrez 8, King 7, Amartey 7, Albrighton 6, Vardy 10, Slimani 7.

Manchester City player ratings: Bravo 2, Sagna 5, Stones 4, Kolarov 4, Fernando 5, Zabaleta 6, Gundogan 4, Silva 5, Navas 3, Iheanacho 4, De Bruyne 5.

Man of the match – Jamie Vardy: Vardy is back! After a stuttering start to the season, Vardy looked back to his clinical best today. He took his two goals superbly, and perhaps he will kick on from here.
