Manchester United transfer news: €25m striker and Euro 2016 winner on free transfer of interest to Red Devils

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will be expected to strengthen his squad in the next two transfer windows and speculation continues to link various names to the club.

The Portuguese tactician spent heavily in the summer on the likes of Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly, but with his side struggling in sixth place in the Premier League after 14 games, it appears as though more reinforcements might be needed.

According to the Metro, Inter forward Gabriel Barbosa could be one player on the transfer radar as he continues to endure a nightmare spell in Milan.

The highly-rated Brazilian ace has played just 16 minutes of competitive football since his switch to Italy, with ESPN FC reporting that the Nerazzurri paid €25m to acquire his services.

Unsurprisingly, ‘Gabigol’ is said to be unhappy with his lack of playing time and given that he was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this past summer, it will come as no surprise if the Red Devils decide to reignite their interest in him in January and rescue him from the San Siro.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid stalwart Pepe is reportedly set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, as per The Mirror, and he has been linked with various clubs in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old defender will see his current deal with the Spanish giants expire at the end of June next year, and is said to be considering a move with the option of talking to other clubs in January and agreeing on a pre-contract.

Despite his age, he remains an integral player for club and country for the most part as he is fresh from playing a pivotal role in the success for Portugal at Euro 2016.

Having joined Real in 2007, it will likely be a difficult decision to leave the Spanish capital, but as reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, United were linked with a move for the Portuguese international with Mourinho fancying a reunion after their time together at Madrid.
