(Video) Mesut Ozil heads Arsenal into the lead with a goal that sees him better his tally for the entirety of the last campaign

Arsenal have taken the lead at the Emirates against Stoke after a goal from talisman Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners went behind early on after Granit Xhaka’s clumsy challenge on Joe Allen handed the visitors a penalty. Charlie Adam made no mistake, firing low past Petr Cech.

Arsene Wenger’s side then drew level through Theo Walcott. Walcott tapped home from close-range after a smart cross from substitute Hector Bellerin, who replaced the injured Shkodran Mustafi.

Mesut Ozil has now put his side ahead, with a rare header. It’s not the sort of goal you may expect the German international to score, but it is a significant one as he has now beaten his goals tally for the entirety of last season. He scored eight goals in 40 appearances in all competitions last campaign, he already has nine in his opening 20 games this term.
