Liverpool legend brands Manchester City’s defence one of the worst in the league after Leicester annihilation

Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to criticise Manchester City’s defence in wake of the 4-2 loss to Leicester yesterday evening.

Pep Guardiola will no doubt be fuming this morning after overseeing a catastrophic defensive display from his side. A catalogue of defensive errors and sub-par goalkeeping from Claudio Bravo handed Jamie Vardy a hat-trick and the Foxes all three points.

Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Carragher was less than impressed with City’s defending.

Though there is perhaps some aspects of sensationalism in Carragher’s reactionary tweet, City’s leaky defensive is fast becoming an issue for Guardiola. Alarm bells were ringing when his side were undone by Chelsea last weekend and they were, remarkably, even worse yesterday.

Carragher is more than qualified to give his viewpoint on City’s defensive struggles, having made 737 appearances at the heart of defence for Liverpool during his career. Despite the vast amount of money City have invested in their back-line, bringing in the likes of Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones, they lack a defender as assured and reliable as Carragher was.
