Jose Mourinho has revealed that he thinks today’s opponents Tottenham are the best team in the Premier League, report the Metro.
The Metro cite Sky Sports in quoting Mourinho adulating Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side: “I think they are the best team in the Premier League, they are the most complete team.”
The Special one went on to explain his remarks, claiming that they have quality in all areas of the field: “Best defence but lots of quality in attacking areas, that’s why since last season i think that they, for me, at the best team in the league.”
It is difficult to know with Mourinho whether this is just him playing mind games and piling the pressure onto Spurs ahead of today’s game. After nine wins on the bounce, scoring 23 and conceding just three, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side might feel aggrieved to have been overlooked by their former manager.
Tottenham go into today’s match-up in fifth place, ten points behind leaders Chelsea. They were also eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage and will subsequently be joining United in the Europa League.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, though, and Mourinho is not one to shy away from sharing his.
