West Brom to target Chelsea’s weak point Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea face West Brom this afternoon in a game which many are predicting to be fairly one-sided.

The Blues are in hot form, having beaten Man City and Tottenham in their last two games, and also won the six games before that.

However the key loss of Nemanja Matic could spell trouble for Chelsea against a West Brom side who are actually in the second best form in the league – after Chelsea.

Matic’s absence will precipitate the continued presence of Cesc Fabregas in midfield. The Spaniard did well against Manchester City, but that was in a game which suited him, with City’s expansive play giving him plenty of space to use the ball. Against West Brom, things will be very different. Claudio Yacob and Darren Fletcher will be tasked trying to overrun Chelsea’s centre and prevent them from playing the ball. Chris Brunt and Nacer Chadli will also come narrow to congest things for the Blues in the middle.

If they can pressurise Fabregas and Kante in the middle of Chelsea’s structure, the Baggies have an outstanding chance of keeping their good run against Chelsea going this afternoon.
