Arsenal target “in the final phase” of transfer away from Ajax

Ajax manager Peter Bosz has confirmed to his club’s official site that Premier League target Riechedly Bazoer is leaving the club.

The Dutchman, quoted in the Metro, explained the attacker would not be training with the side as normal because “his transfer is in the final phase”.

In the past both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with Bazoer, who is a solid midfielder also capable of playing in defence. Like all the 20 year olds who have come through the Ajax youth system, he shows great technique and a great willingness to receive the ball all over the pitch. While he’s not fully developed yet, he has the potential to play in the kind of defence that Pep Guardiola aims for, meaning that Manchester City can’t be ruled out either.

But after a slow start to the season, it remains to be seen whether the mystery clubs who are so close to signing the Dutchman are of the size of Chelsea or Arsenal. Reported interest from Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga seems more fitting at this point.
