Chelsea loanee to have deal cancelled but Conte will ship him straight back out

Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda is reportedly set to see his loan spell with Real Betis cancelled, but Anderlecht are waiting in the wings to swoop.

The 20-year-old has made just eight appearances so far this season and has been limited to 275 minutes of football with a knee injury curtailing his progress.

In turn, it looks as though he’s set to end his stint in Spain with The Daily Star reporting that he is already back in London and isn’t expected to return to Spain.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Belgian giants Anderlecht are waiting for Musonda to return to Chelsea officially before making their move to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

It would arguably be the ideal move for the Chelsea starlet to return to the club where it all began having come through the Anderlecht youth ranks before moving to west London in 2012.

It’s highly unlikely that there will be any opportunities with Antonio Conte’s squad this season, so the chance to continue his development elsewhere is the ideal solution for both parties.

As noted by the Daily Star though, it will ensure that the number of players out on loan from Chelsea remains at 38 as the club continue to ship out youngsters all across Europe.

Whether or not any of them return to Stamford Bridge and carve out a successful career with the Premier League giants remains to be seen, but as for Musonda, it looks as though a switch back to Belgium will be in his short-term plan.
