Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has warned Liverpool that they are wasting their time if they have intentions of trying to sign Christian Pulisic.
As noted by ESPN FC, Liverpool were said to have made a €13m bid for the American international in the summer but the Bundesliga outfit were not interested in selling, while they have since been linked with making an improved €29.7m offer.
It appears as though the situation is very much the same now as well with Zorc sending a clear message to Liverpool regarding their pursuit of Pulisic.
“We have communicated very clearly that we won’t sell Christian, and that he’s very much part of our plans,” Zorc told Bild on Tuesday. “Liverpool don’t need to waste their time.”
Pulisic is under contract with Dortmund until 2019 and continues to develop his game under Thomas Tuchel with a view of becoming an influential figure in the club’s future success.
With two goals and six assists to his name so far this season, he has displayed the talent that he possesses but it remains to be seen whether or not the club continues to fend off interest from Liverpool or if the Reds can test their resolve and make them consider an offer.
Based on Zorc’s comments above, it is very much the former at this stage and so Jurgen Klopp may well have to look elsewhere in the upcoming transfer window in his bid to bolster his squad.
The German tactician has a strong squad at his disposal at Anfield for this season as they go all out for domestic honours, and if anything, critics will suggest that he should be looking at strengthening his defence before any other department given their troubles in that area so far this season.
