Manchester United defender denies exit talk

Matteo Darmian has denied that he is looking for a transfer away from Old Trafford.

The defender has played irregularly since arriving at Manchester United from Torino, with his most recent action coming at left back following Luke Shaw’s latest injury.

In fact the 27 year old has started the last 6 Premier League games, following a long spell out of favour. The fact that he is getting consistent minutes should be enough to tell you that Jose Mourinho isn’t likely to let him go in January, even if he may not be the Portuguese’s ideal choice in the long term.

The Italian has told ESPN that there is no truth in rumours of a deal, at least not yet.

“I play for one of the biggest clubs in the world so I’m happy. I listen and read about the transfer but I don’t know anything. At the moment, nothing is true. I will continue to do my job and want to stay here” Darmian said.

With Luke Shaw’s injury problems looking fairly chronic, Darmian can feel assured that he will get plenty of minutes in the future. Hopefully with a settled run in the team he can establish himself and show some more of the attacking threat that he was known for in Italy.
