Middlesbrough vs Liverpool confirmed starting lineups: Loris Karius is dropped while Alvaro Negredo returns

Liverpool visit Middlesbrough at the Riverside stadium this evening as they look to keep pace with Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are without a win in two games, so will be looking to bounce back tonight and bring three points back to Merseyside. There is also added motivation for the Reds after Arsenal’s defeat at the hands of Everton last night. Tonight’s fixture provides the opportunity to draw level on points with the Gunners.

There are several injury concerns for Liverpool ahead of tonight’s game. Emre Can was ruled out of their clash with West Ham at the weekend and it remains unclear whether he will be fit to play against Boro. Coutinho is still sidelined with an ankle injury.

Down the other end of the table, Middlesbrough go into tonight’s game in great need of points as Aitor Karanka looks to steer his side away from the relegation zone.

Alvaro Negredo is back in contention after recovering from a hamstring strain, but Gaston Ramirez will miss out with an injury to his foot.

Here is how both sides line up this evening:
