Cesc Fabregas has been linked with moves to Serie A regularly in the last few months since he lost his place in the Chelsea team, with Roma and AC Milan mentioned as possible destinations too.
Inter Milan were also apparently interested, although reports in Calcio Mercato today indicate they may have switched their attention to a new target at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian site claims that Jon Obi Mikel is one of the candidates being considered as a winter signing for Inter. The story states that they want Mikel in to provide a solid platform for Joao Mario and Marcelo Brozovic to operate from. Former Chelsea man Lassana Diarra is top of their shopping list, but Mikel is there in the mix too.
Chelsea fans would be sad to see cult hero Mikel leave, but with his contract expiring and his lack of minutes, it’s a move that makes sense to all involved. Mikel has always seemed like the type of tactically intelligent player who would thrive in Serie A.
