Arsenal are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Real Madrid playmaker Isco, although there is still some negotiating to be done over the fee.
The 24-year-old continues to struggle to hold down a regular first-team spot under Zinedine Zidane, and in turn it may well eventually reach breaking point for him as he looks to leave the Spanish capital.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are ready to pounce with Isco’s current contract set to expire in June 2018, although it will still take a sizeable figure to prise him away from the Bernabeu.
Real value him at around £25m, as per the report, while Arsenal are said to be willing to pay £17m plus add-ons. In turn, there is some compromise needed on the fee and it remains to be seen whether or not an agreement can be reached.
The La Liga giants are reportedly keen to get Isco to sign a new contract extension, but that isn’t with the intention of securing his long-term future but more so to put themselves in a strong position in the event that he leaves.
It’s added that the former Malaga star will only consider a Champions League club, and Arsenal remain one of the more desirable options. However, Gunners fans will know all too well that this isn’t the first time that he’s been linked with a move to the Emirates and it seems like a never-ending saga.
Whether or not he’s finally ready to quit the Bernabeu will be revealed next year, but there is a case to suggest that Arsenal would benefit from his arrival hugely, particularly in the event that contract talks with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil don’t go to plan.
