Axel Witsel has rejected the chance to join Chelsea as he has already agreed to join Serie A giants Juventus, according to The Sun.
Chelsea’s midfield has played a key role in their recent success. Antonio Conte’s side have won 11 consecutive Premier League games, scoring 25, conceding two and keeping nine clean sheets. During that period N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas have all scarcely put a foot wrong.
There appears to be a need for reinforcements in the middle of the park now, however, as Oscar is set to leave the club to join Shanghai SIPG. The Sun believe that Conte is keen on signing Witsel to fill that void. The tabloid do, however, report that the Belgian is preparing to join Juventus and thus will not be moving to Stamford Bridge.
As per The Sun, Chelsea will now look elsewhere as they look to replace their outgoing, industrious Brazilian.
