Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the heels of Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy after brace against West Brom

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is only behind Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy in terms of direct impact in their opening 16 Premier Leagues for the club, report The Sun.

Ibrahimovic has found the back of the net 11 times in his first 16 games in England, a record that The Sun report can only be bettered by van Nistelrooy, who scored 12 times in his opening 16 appearances. The tabloid also note that Ibrahimovic has levelled with Robin van Persie and Andy Cole, who also scored 11 in their first 16 games.

It bodes well for United, as the illustrious trio whose footsteps Ibrahimovic has followed in went on to score plenty more at Old Trafford. After a successful opening period, van Nistelrooy went on to score 83 more in 134 league appearances, his compatriot van Persie scored 37 in 70 and Cole bagged 82 in 179. They also won a combined seven Premier League titles during their respective spells at the club.

Ibrahimovic is 35-years-old and not getting any younger, but he is showing few signs of slowing up.
