Manchester City paid tribute to midfielder Ilkay Gundogan ahead of their clash with Arsenal this afternoon after the German was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
City’s victory over Watford in midweek was overshadowed to the damage sustained by Gundogan, as he will likely not be seen again this campaign.
Gundogan, for all his talent, is renown for being injury prone. When City signed him in the summer he was recovering from a dislocated knee cap, so this fresh injury will likely come as no surprise to Pep Guardiola.
His City teammates paid tribute to him by wearing ‘Gundogan 8’ shirts ahead of kick-off at the Etihad.
