Arsenal injury news: winger who has scored six goals this season picks up muscle injury during Man City loss

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up a muscle injury during his side’s defeat to Manchester City this afternoon, report the Arsenal Twitter page.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought on as a substitute in the 65 minute, replacing Alex Iwobi. Merely 13 minutes later, he was hauled off. The England international was noticeably struggling and could be seen strolling around as his side trailed 2-1.

It is more bad news for the Gunners in a week to forget. They were beaten late-on by Everton midweek after Ashley Williams’ header gave them little time to respond. Today, they were not at the races and slipped to a second defeat in a week. Arsenal will finish the weekend nine points behind leaders Chelsea, who are showing no signs of slowing up.

It remains to be seen how serious Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury is. The Arsenal faithful will no doubt be hoping that he is back soon, as he has been enjoying his best season yet in an Arsenal shirt. The 23-year-old has already found the back of the net six times so far this campaign, and it’s only December.
