Chelsea midfielder heading to France as exit queue grows longer at Stamford Bridge

After more than ten years at the Bridge, Job Obi Mikel looks like he’s finally going to be departing Chelsea this summer, with the South of France now looking like his most likely destination.

Today’s Sun features quotes from Mikel’s national team coach Gernot Rohr, which confirm that Mikel is preparing to leave the West London side on a free when his contract expires this summer, and is already in “advanced discussions” with Olympique Marseille.

Mikel has had spells in and out of the team with almost every manager at Chelsea over the last decade. Antonio Conte, however, has not given the Nigerian a single minute of pitch time to prove himself.

As a cult figure at the Bridge many fans will be sad to see their goalshy defensive midfielder go. But given how well the team is playing without him, not many would object to the move on anything beyond an emotional level.
