Monday night’s Merseyside Derby was a dull affair for large periods.
The first half was so forgettable I’ve already long forgotten it, while the second only really got going in the 69th minutes when Ross Barkley had a crack at Jordan Henderson’s ankle.
Barkley’s tackle on Hendo and the fight that followed ultimately piled on the stoppage time, leading the fourth official to signal eight extra minutes after the 90. And, in the fifth of those eight minutes, Sadio Mane tapped home for a late winner to send Liverpool fans into heaven, from where one of them threw a flare onto the pitch.

Mane is making a strong bid for the title of Signing of the Season.
The £34m fee which Liverpool paid to Southampton for Mane over the summer, as reported by BBC Sport, doesn’t seem like such silly business anymore!
