Barcelona star ready to quit as problems persist with Premier League giants on high transfer alert

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is reportedly growing unsettled at the club after Luis Enrique continues to snub him in his starting line-up.

The Croatian international has made 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but has been left on the bench for the last two La Liga outings despite returning to full fitness.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 28-year-old is frustrated with a lack of communication from boss Enrique over why he is being snubbed, and so unsurprisingly in turn it has raised question marks over his future at the Camp Nou.

It’s added that the club still value Rakitic’s contribution highly, and it’s expected that the former Sevilla ace will return to the starting line-up for the Copa del Rey clash against Hercules on Wednesday.

A solid performance and a win for the Catalan giants could paper over the cracks for a little longer, but evidently the report suggests that there is something not quite right between Enrique and Rakitic currently.

Given that there was talk this month of the 28-year-old receiving a new contract, that seems an unlikely scenario at this stage, and doubts over his future have led to reports suggesting that a trio of Premier League clubs will be alerted by the news.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in the Croatian playmaker, as per The Daily Star, and so should this situation develop into something more serious with Rakitic free to leave Barcelona, then either of those three clubs will undoubtedly be ready to swoop.
