Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira is set to personally hold transfer talks with Manchester United this week regarding the future of star centre-back Victor Lindelof.

The 22-year-old defender – a former teammate of current Red Devils striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Sweden national side – is understood to be a serious target for Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho.

According to O Jogo, the Benfica president was due to land in England yesterday to discuss the details of Lindelof’s proposed transfer to Old Trafford.

O Jogo add that no fee has yet been agreed, but that Benfica’s negotiation base is around €45m plus €5m in performance-related bonuses.

Despite their apparent desire to bolster their backline, United have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils have conceded 17 goals in 17 games, which is fewer than all other teams other than Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and leaders Chelsea.

United have kept six clean sheets in the league this term, shutting out West Brom, Spurs, Burnley, Liverpool, Hull and Southampton.
