Chelsea linked with £42m bid for former Juventus player

Spanish transfer site Don Balon has today linked Chelsea with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.

It’s a move that makes sense, at least from the point of view of a rumour, as Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was the man who signed Vidal for Juventus from Bayer Leverkusen.

Vidal’s incredible aggression and intensity was a key part of Conte’s Juve team, and a quality he clearly looks for in players all over the pitch. With Oscar and Jon Obi Mikel seemongly on the way out at Chelsea, a new singing is definitely needed in the middle of the park.

The question is how long 29 year old Vidal will be able to keep it up. He seems the typical model of a player who burns themselves out through their 20s then loses it quickly after 30. Chelsea’s scouting team must do their utmost to ensure they aren’t being sold a dud.
