Romelu Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola has revealed that his client is close to signing a contract extension with Everton, report Sky Sports.

Last month, the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea made several attempts to re-sign Lukaku in the summer transfer window. Everton, however, were not interested in selling their main asset. It is reported that the Toffees demanded £75 million to part with Lukaku, a price that Chelsea were unwilling to pay for a player, the Evening Standard report, they sold for just £28 million two years prior.

It now appears that Lukaku is prepared to commit his long-term future to Everton. Sky Sports cite talkSPORT in quoting Lukaku’s agent Raiola: “With Everton, we have 99.9 per cent reached terms. I don’t see any big problems. It is a question of putting the details on the paper.”

Lukaku has enjoyed a lightening start to this Premier League campaign, and it appears that he will be rewarded with a new deal for his goal-scoring exploits. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net on nine occasions already this season, and trails only Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero in the race for the Golden Boot. Now that is what you call esteemed company.
