West Ham talisman will be forced to stay with the Hammers despite exit rumours and recent flirtations with Arsenal

West Ham talisman Dimitri Payet will not be leaving the club in the January transfer windows despite question marks over his future at the club, according to Sky Sports.

There has been continual suggestions that Payet may be unsettled at West Ham, and they were only fuelled by his recent flirtations with Arsenal. Sky Sports cite French broadcaster RMC Sport in quoting the French international: “When you see them (Arsenal) playing, as a technical player, you could only have fun in that team. They’re candidates for the title every year.”

It comes as no surprise that Payet is not completely settled at West Ham. He scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in his debut season in the Premier League, steering West Ham to Europa League qualification. However, all has not gone to plan this campaign.

Slaven Bilic’s side were eliminated from the Europa League in August after being defeated by Astra Giurgiu. They also sit 13th in the Premier League after a disappointing start to life in the London Stadium.

Payet himself has not been performing at the peak of his powers, but it does not appear that he will be given an exit route any time soon. Sky Sports believe that the club have no intention of selling their main asset in January, even if he is keen on a move away.
