Arsenal defender set for French loan move

Mathieu Debuchy has not had an easy time of it since joining Arsenal. It all seemed like it was going to work out so well, with the Frenchman coming in to Arsenal’s squad to replace Bacary Sagna as unquestioned number one right back.

But a series of injuries lead to Hector Bellerin being tried out in the position, and the Spaniard never looked back as he developed into a top player.

Debuchy spent the second half of last season out on loan at Bordeaux, and a similar arrangement could be put in place this season too. According to the Mirror, Debuchy will head to Ligue 1 side Marseille in January, once he has recovered from yet another injury issue.

Current Marseille boss Rudi Garcia managed Debuchy at Lille when he made his breakthrough. The defender will be hoping that he can now help him restart his career on the south coast of France.
