Chelsea are set to make a move for want-away West Ham talisman Dimitri Payet after missing out on Arturo Vidal, according to The Sun.

As per The Sun, Antonio Conte was previously interested in signing Vidal in a £38 million deal; the pair worked together during their time at Juventus. However, Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti was unwilling to let the Chilean leave.

The tabloid believe that Chelsea are now considering other options, with Payet high on their wishlist. They note that the French international is refusing to play for the Hammers, and has made no secret of his desire to depart the London Stadium this month.

Payet emerged as one of the Premier League’s best players last campaign, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists. The 29-year-old was involved in a goal every 122 minutes for West Ham finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League.

If Conte could get him to replicate that sort of form in a Chelsea shirt, it would go a long way to securing them the title this term.
