Liverpool 1-2 Wolves player ratings: 5/10s for porous Reds defence in shock upset

Liverpool suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Anfield at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers in their fourth-round FA Cup tie on Saturday.

Goals from Richard Stearman and Andreas Weimann had given the visitors a two-goal cushion heading into half-time, as a late Divock Origi goal was nothing more than a consolation effort.

It was a deserved win for Wolves who put in an incredible shift to cause the upset, while Jurgen Klopp will be left with difficult questions to answer after making nine changes to the side that faced Southampton in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Having now crashed out of both cups, Liverpool will have to focus on turning things around in the Premier League. However, their miserable January goes on and it remains to be seen whether or not they can bounce back against league leaders Chelsea next week in a crucial game for all concerned.

Weimann, Helder Costa and Nouha Dicko were exceptional for the visitors up front, but there were quality performances right across the pitch from a Wolves perspective.

As for Liverpool, it was a complete contrast. A disappointing effort across the board with few coming out of the game in a positive light with Klopp likely to be the one to come under fire for the shock exit.
