Arsenal face major concern as £220k-a-week offer to be tabled by Spanish giants for influential ace

Atletico Madrid are reportedly planning for life without Antoine Griezmann, and unfortunately for Arsenal, it appears to involve Alexis Sanchez.

According to The Sun, the La Liga giants are ready to splash out £220,000-a-week on the Chilean international, as contract talks with the Gunners continue to drag.

It’s added in the report that it’s a huge increase on the £160,000-a-week deal that Arsenal are reportedly offering to their talismanic forward, and it appears as though Atleti are ready to swoop for the 28-year-old and take advantage of the delay on a renewal.

While it’s unclear at this stage as to whether or not Sanchez would be wiling to swap London for Madrid, it’s claimed that ultimately Atleti are resigned to losing Griezmann this summer, with Manchester United in pole position to sign the Frenchman.

With his £85m release clause, the Spanish outfit would be armed with significant funds and The Sun report that an offer of around £35m coupled with his wage demands will be easily met with that fee.

Sanchez has just 18 months remaining on his current deal, and so the longer the lack of progress goes on the more anxious that Arsenal supporters will grow that they could be losing their star forward.

The former Udinese and Barcelona man has scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in 29 appearances in all competitions this season, proving that he is absolutely crucial in Arsenal’s bid to win silverware this season.

In turn, a new contract agreement would be the ideal resolution to the situation, and it would ultimately be the only thing that prevents Atletico from making a genuine attempt at signing him.

Arsenal have also been linked with Griezmann but doubts will persist over whether or not they are willing to spend that much money on a single player. Nevertheless, if they were to add the French international to Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in an attacking trident, they just might get supporters believing again.
