Chelsea build three-man summer shortlist after quiet transfer window, four could leave busy Blues too

Chelsea had a rather quiet January transfer window.

The Blues offloaded Oscar, John Obi Mikel, Patrick Bamford, Dion Conroy, Kevin Wright, Zech Medley and Branislav Ivanovic this winter, but their only addition was teenage scholar Kyle Jameson from Southport.

However, there are plans for a much busier summer, with The Telegraph claiming Chelsea will be very active in the transfer market before next season, regardless of how easily they win the title this year.

The reported rationale is to avoid a repeat of 2015 when the Blues were seemingly complacent after winning the Premier League and a quiet summer was followed by a season of implosion.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have built a three-man shortlist featuring Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

The Telegraph add that John Terry is likely to leave on a free transfer, while the futures of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, midfielder Cesc Fabregas and frontman Diego Costa are also very doubtful.
