Chelsea set to hijack £75m move for Manchester City star as doubts emerge over future

Chelsea are reportedly set to rival Real Madrid for the signing of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine ace fetching a fee of £75m.

Talk has been rife about the 28-year-old’s future at the Etihad this week, after new signing Gabriel Jesus produced a stunning display in the win at West Ham United.

The Brazilian’s pace, movement and craft combined with the likes of Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne saw Pep Guardiola’s side produce one of their best performances of the season, all with Aguero sat on the bench.

According to The Mirror, Real Madrid have had a long-time interest in the former Atletico Madrid striker, and if he decides that he wishes to leave Manchester in the summer as he has no interest in being a second-choice option for Guardiola, then the Spanish giants will swoop.

However, with doubts still surrounding Diego Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge after his recent fall-out which led to him being dropped last month, it’s claimed that Antonio Conte could also make a move for Aguero in the event that he needs to replace his talismanic Spaniard.

Aguero has 154 goals in 233 games since signing for City in 2011 and is under contract with the club until 2020. In turn, the likelihood of him leaving seems to be quite short as he has proven his quality time and time again.

Nevertheless, if he doesn’t fit into Guardiola’s style of play and future plans, then there is no reason why City wouldn’t decide to cash in and go with their exciting and youthful forward line which looked so effective and devastating in midweek.

It will take a huge bid to sign him from City, with £75m being mentioned in the report above. Madrid would seem like the more obvious choice, but depending on what happens with Costa at Chelsea, the Argentine international could be swapping Manchester for London this summer.
