Chelsea injury news: Antonio Conte’s defensive options thinned as centre-back suffers nasty ankle gash

It looks as though John Terry will be ruled out of Chelsea’s game against Burnley this weekend after sustaining a nasty gash to his ankle.

Terry has struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s side since the Italian switched to a 3-4-3 system, which has proved so successful for the Blues, and this will do him no favours as he looks to end his Chelsea career on a high.

Injury expert Ben Dinnery posted this nasty photo on Twitter of the Chelsea skipper having his ankle stitched, and claims that he will be unavailable for selection at the weekend.

Chelsea are bidding to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League this weekend. The league leaders already have a nine point advantage over nearest challengers Tottenham, and if they are able to extend that this match-week, they could well be home and dry already.

Spurs visit Liverpool, who are fighting to secure Champions League football for next season. That is by no means an easy fixture, so it provides a great opportunity for Chelsea to run away with the crown.
