AC Milan transfer news: £75m-rated striker top target as Italian giants plot £140m spree

AC Milan expect a takeover of the club to be completed next month, and it’s reported that they have some big-name targets in mind with their new wealth.

Sino-Europe Sports are scheduled to complete their purchase on March 3, and with their arrival at the club, it’s expected that they will provide Vincenzo Montella with significant transfer funds.

According to The Daily Star, that could see them target Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, despite reports suggesting that the Belgian international is close to signing a new deal at Goodison Park.

Naturally, Ronald Koeman will be desperate to keep the 23-year-old at the club, but he will find it increasingly difficult if the Toffees aren’t able to offer what the prolific marksman is seeking in terms of challenging for honours and playing in Europe.

Lukaku has scored 17 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and as he continues to improve and develop his all-round game, it will only strengthen speculation of an exit.

As per the report, Everton value him at £75m so he won’t go cheap, but if Milan do have the financial backing of their new owners to make a statement in the summer market, then this new link suggests that Lukaku could be their marquee signing.

It’s claimed that the investors will make £140m available in transfer funds in what will be their first market at the helm, and it seems as though a large chunk of that could go on Lukaku as they look to build a squad capable of competing at the top of Serie A and in Europe further down the line.

Milan have already done business with Everton this year having taken Gerard Deulofeu on loan in January, and so perhaps there might be more business between the two clubs moving forward.
