Manchester United star to be offered £300k-a-week deal to fend off interest from European giants

Man United shot-stopper David de Gea is reportedly set to be offered a staggering £300,000-a-week new contract in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants have been linked with making a major change to their side in the goalkeeping position, with Keylor Navas set to be replaced.

According to The Daily Star, De Gea is one of three major targets for them, with Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Tottenham’s Huge Lloris also on the transfer shortlist.

However, United are seemingly not waiting around to find out whether or not the Spaniard is their first-choice, as the report claims that they are ready to offer De Gea a new deal worth £300,000-a-week, which is a huge increase from his current £200,000-a-week contract.

That in turn will reportedly put the 26-year-old on par with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but with talk of a potential £55m move to Spain not going away, perhaps it’s the only solution for United to prevent them from losing one of their most prized assets.

De Gea has two years remaining on his current deal, and has an option to extend for a further 12 months, but with the appeal of moving back to Spain and playing for the capital club, it has led to constant question marks being raised over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, should he sign this new deal, then it would be a major indication of his intentions moving forward, and it would undoubtedly be a major boost for Jose Mourinho and United as he has established himself as one of the best in his position in Europe since arriving in Manchester in 2011.
