Chelsea dealt transfer blow as European giants rival them for £30m prolific marksman

Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a £30m move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, with the 20-year-old also being monitored by Chelsea.

The former Fulham forward has been a revelation since his summer switch to Scotland, scoring 27 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ record breaking side.

However, with that form has naturally come interest from elsewhere, and the Mirror report that Bayern are keen on signing Dembele this summer.

The German giants are reportedly preparing a £30m offer to try and prise him away, although Chelsea are still interested and West Ham United were also linked with a bid to sign him in January.

While it won’t be a surprise if he prioritises Chelsea and Bayern over West Ham due to the draw of Champions League football next season, it remains to be seen which opportunity he opts to grab, provided that he does indeed decide to move on from Celtic this summer.

Antonio Conte’s need for attacking reinforcements is evident, as beyond Diego Costa up front, he has a lack of depth in that department with Michy Batshuayi yet to seemingly convince him entirely.

With the addition of European football to their schedule next season, the Premier League leaders will need more than that to compete on various fronts and guard against injuries and suspensions, and so a new striker must surely be on their transfer priority list.

It remains to be seen whether or not Dembele solves that headache though, as moving to Bayern is a huge opportunity too with the chance to compete for silverware on a yearly basis with one of the biggest clubs in the world and under the tutelage of a world-class coach in Carlo Ancelotti.
