Mourinho begins the mind games ahead of Man United’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has already started the mind games ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final visit to his former employers Chelsea, report the Daily Mail.

Man United set up a mouthwatering clash with the league leaders by defeating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon – and Mourinho is wasting no time with the mind games.

The Daily Mail quote Mourinho, who piles the pressure on Antonio Conte’s side by claiming that they can put their full focus on the FA Cup:

“Probably Chelsea can only think about that (the FA Cup) because I think they are champions and they have nothing else to fight for.”

The Special One may well have a point. Chelsea are eight points clear at the top of the table, with trips to Man United and Everton being their only clashes with any of the top six before the season’s end. However, this is the Premier League we’re talking about, you can’t taking anything for granted.

Mourinho went on to note the struggles that United face ahead of the quarter-final fixture, as the Daily Mail report:

“The FA Cup is something I believe is important for them. I have to play St Etienne, I have to play the final, I have to play hopefully another opponent in the Europa League. I have to fight for a top-four position in the Premier League.”

After speaking about the match at length, the Daily Mail quote Mourinho, who claims that he doesn’t want to speak about the match – interesting:

“The match is in one month’s time. I don’t want to be speaking about it.”
