Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho lines up surprise raids for Chelsea star duo and £30M Arsenal winger

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a shock transfer target for the Gunners’ Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to The Sun.

When Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived at the Emirates a teenager, it seemed as though he was destined for the top. However, now 23-years-old, the England international has not developed into the player many thought he would.

His physical attributes are remarkable, his electric pace and bullish strength make him a nightmare for opposing full-backs. However, it’s when Oxlade-Chamberlain reaches the final third of the field that his shortfalls are exposed. A lack of consistency in his end product has meant he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Arsene Wenger’s side.

He could be set to seek a move elsewhere in search of regular first-team football, and one of Arsenal’s Premier League counterparts appear to be waiting in the wings.

The Sun cite the Mirror in reporting that Jose Mourinho is preparing a £30million summer move for Oxlade-Chamberlain. The tabloid believe that The Special One would prefer either Nemanja Matic or Willian, but it is unlikely that Antonio Conte will part with either of them.

As per the Mirror, Mourinho will instead turn to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who may well be keen on making the switch. That would be one hell of a story.
