Manchester United have a secret first-option to sign Monaco starlet Bernardo Silva ahead of their fellow European heavyweights, report The Sun.

Silva is enjoying a stellar campaign for Monaco, who currently sit top of Ligue 1, three points clear of champions PSG. He has been instrumental in Les Monegasques’ success this term, bagging six goals and providing six assists. His good form does not appear to have gone unnoticed.

According to The Sun, Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all interested in securing Silva’s services – but there is one fellow European heavyweight who could well pip them all to the post.

The Sun cite Le 10 Sport in reporting that Manchester United have a first-option to sign the 22-year-old. Le 10 Sport believe that Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has agreed a fee that would guarantee that Silva makes the switch to Old Trafford.

The French outlet do not name a price in their report, but The Sun believe that it could be a whopping £70million. That seems like a hefty sum, but Silva appears to be destined for the very top.
