(Video) Vincent Janssen goal: Tottenham striker finally ends unwanted record with Millwall goal

Tottenham forward Vincent Janssen finally ended his wait for a goal from open play on Sunday with this strike against Millwall in the FA Cup.

The Dutchman has struggled badly since his summer switch to White Hart Lane, as he has scored just four goals in 29 appearances prior to the weekend.

Having been snubbed early on by Mauricio Pochettino after Harry Kane picked up an injury, the 22-year-old did make his way onto the pitch eventually and will have one relieved man by the full-time whistle.

It remains to be seen whether or not he can build on this now, and whether he will be forced into action on a more regular basis with Kane potentially sidelined with the ankle knock.

However, that won’t matter too much at this point as he will ultimately just be pleased to get on the scoresheet from open play and open his account properly for Tottenham with a view of going on to prove that he was worth the investment.

As for Tottenham in general, they now look forward to the semi-finals of the FA Cup as they join Arsenal and Manchester City in the last four, with Chelsea taking on Manchester United on Monday night.
