Chelsea suffer major blow in pursuit of £26.9M PSG sensation as he reveals he is in talks over a contract extension

Inter Milan and Chelsea transfer target Marquinhos is in talks over a new contract with PSG, report Calciomercato.

Marquinhos was brought to Europe by Serie A giants Roma in the summer of 2012, and immediately showcased his talent in Italy’s top tier. It earned him a move to French champions, where he has gone on to make 146 appearances and has established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1.

His good performances for PSG appear to have captured the attention of two of Europe’s biggest names. According to Calciomercato, both Inter Milan and Chelsea are interested in securing Marquinhos’ services in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, it appears as though both sides will have to look elsewhere in their respective pursuits of defensive reinforcements. Calciomercato quote Marquinhos, who reveals he is in talks over extending his contract with PSG:

“We’ve begun new contract talks and we need some time to reach an agreement. It’s not only up to me but my contract here runs until 2019 and under my point of view everything is pretty clear, I want to stay at PSG.”

Calciomercato note that PSG forked out £26.8million to sign the Brazilian in 2013 – he is probably worth at least double that in the current market.
