Jose Mourinho plots stunning €165m Manchester United summer spending spree

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly has three targets on his shortlist which will take his summer spending to around €165m.

United remain in the hunt for a top four finish in the Premier League this season, although they could find a path back to the Champions League through their ongoing run in the Europa League.

Add the Community Shield and EFL Cup to the mix, and it’s been a relatively successful first season for Mourinho with the important part coming up.

Having shown that he isn’t shy to spend big last summer, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he’s ready to go again this year with three players on his radar who could cost the Red Devils up to €165m.

The biggest signing would be Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, with United having to meet the €100m release clause in his contract with the La Liga giants.

As per the report, it’s claimed that a deal is close and so perhaps the marquee signing is on his way to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Elsewhere, Gazzetta also note that Inter ace Ivan Perisic could be on the move in a €35m deal as United have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in expressing an interest.

The Croatian international has been an important part of the Nerazzurri’s resurgence under Stefano Pioli this season, but he could be on his way to England if the report is true.

Meanwhile, Mourinho reportedly flew to Zagreb on Friday ahead of the World Cup qualifying match between Croatia and Ukraine, but with Perisic suspended, it has led to a fresh claim that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is the subject of his trip.

Calciomercato support the rumour that United are keen, but it would take a bid of around €30m to prise him away from Italy and so Mourinho will have to convince the club hierarchy to dig deep into their pockets this summer to strengthen his squad.
