Tottenham face major concern as most influential figure meets Spanish giants

Although it’s claimed that Tottenham have insisted that there is no reason to panic, Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly met with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The Catalan giants are searching for their next coach after Luis Enrique announced that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of the season.

In turn, combine that with the report of the meeting between Pochettino and Bartomeu, as noted by The Mirror, it should have alarm bells ringing at White Hart Lane.

The meeting is said to have taken place at a restaurant in Barcelona, but Spurs chiefs have insisted that they were aware of the situation and that the pair have been friends for a long time and that it was merely a catch-up rather than anything un-toward.

Nevertheless, the timing coupled with the fact that Pochettino has been linked with the post will concern Tottenham fans either way as the Argentine tactician has done an excellent job since taking over the north London outfit in 2014.

That followed on from his work at Southampton, and prior to that with Espanyol, while it’s also added by the Mirror that he still has a house in Barca following that role.

While neither Pochettino and Spurs have given any sort of hint that he could move on this summer, the Mirror were keen to point out that it’s reminiscent of a meeting he had with Sir Alex Ferguson at a time when he was linked with the Manchester United job.

The 45-year-old went on to sign a new Tottenham contract days later which keeps him at the club until 2021, and Spurs supporters will undoubtedly be hoping that their boss intends on seeing that deal through.
