Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal could be offered a return to football with the Dutch national team, report the Independent.
Van Gaal has previously worked with the Netherlands on two occasions, between 2000 and 2002 and 2012 and 2014. During his more recent spell, he oversaw his country winning the Bronze medal in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
His good work with the Netherlands caught the eye of Manchester United, who opted to appoint Van Gaal as David Moyes’ successor. Van Gaal left Manchester United having failed to secure them Champions League football, and was subsequently replaced by former apprentice Jose Mourinho.
Despite his failures at Old Trafford, it appears as though Van Gaal could be set to be offered a route back into the game. The Independent believe that the Netherlands are considering offering their former boss a role as technical director. It remains to be seen whether that is a role Van Gaal would be willing to take up.
