Southampton prepare £20M summer bid for Liverpool defender who is currently on loan with Premier League counterparts

Southampton are interested in signing Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho, who is currently on loan with Crystal Palace, report the Mirror.

Sakho is a product of PSG’s academy, and immediately showcased his talents in Ligue 1. The Frenchman became the youngest player ever to captain their side in France’s top tier at the age of 17-years-old, which was testament to his maturity at such a tender age.

He went on to make more than 200 appearances for the French champions, earning himself a move to Premier League giants Liverpool. He established himself as an important member of the Reds squad, but soon after Jurgen Klopp took the reins at Anfield, it became clear that he had no future with the club.

He subsequently joined Crystal Palace on loan, where he has been able to revive his stuttering career. His good performances at Selhurst Park appear to have captured the attention of one of Palace’s Premier League counterparts.

The Mirror believe that Southampton are considering making a move to sign Sakho in the summer transfer window. The tabloid believe that the Saints are preparing a £20million offer; it remains to be seen if that will be enough to convince Liverpool to sell.
