Marseille chief set to bankroll £85M summer spending spree with Arsenal star duo top of the transfer wishlist

Arsenal duo Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud appear to be attracting interest from their home country.

The Sun cite French newspaper L’Equipe in reporting that Marseille are keen to secure the services of both of them in the summer transfer window. The tabloid notes that American billionaire Frank McCourt, who purchased the club in August last year, is set to splash the cash this summer.

L’Equipe believe that McCourt is prepared to sanction a stunning £85million spending spree, with Koscielny and Giroud both on the club’s radar.

The compatriots both feature regularly in Arsene Wenger’s side and have made 493 appearances for the Gunners combined. While Koscielny has established himself as one of the finest defenders in the Premier League, Giroud has continually proven he is not able to carry the goal-scoring burden at the Emirates. The 30-year-old’s shortfalls have not put off Marseille, however, if L’Equipe are to be believed.

It remains to be seen how much Arsenal will demand in exchange for the duo.
