Manchester United stalwart vows to never join another English side as his contract approaches the expiration date

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has vowed to never sign for another English club when he leaves Old Trafford, report The Sun.

Carrick has oftentimes not been given the recognition he deserves. Part of the generation that saw Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard carve their names into the footballing hall of fame – Carrick was left in their shadow. There can be no doubting, however, that when he leaves Man United, he’ll be leaving as one of the best midfielders ever to grace the Premier League.

It’s for that reason that there will likely be no shortage of interest in him as his contract with the Red Devils approaches it’s expiration date.

However, it doesn’t appear as though Carrick is keen to remain in England upon departing Old Trafford. The Sun quote the former England international, who reveals his next move will see him sign for a non-English club:

“It won’t be anywhere else in England (next season), no, I’ve had too many good times here to do that elsewhere.”
