Real Madrid step up efforts to sign Manchester United star, President urges him to push for Old Trafford exit

Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, report Calciomercato.

de Gea endured a difficult start to life in England under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson. He arrived from Atletico Madrid with high expectations, but struggled with the physicality of the Premier League and continually proved to be a liability in Man United’s side.

However, after successfully acclimatising to life in England, de Gea is now widely considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League – if not the world. Real Madrid, who are always on the look out to sign the best players on the market, appear to have taken notice.

Calciomercato cite Sky Sports in reporting that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has urged de Gea to push for a move to the Bernabeu. It remains to be seen whether the Spain number one would be interested in a move back to Madrid.
